3rd F-NPP Leadership and Regional Strategic Plan Training at Dharan

The 3rd F-NPP Leadership and Regional Strategic Plan Training was held at the Eastern Region of Nepal in the beautiful city at Dharan on August 6 – 7, 2011. 41 participants from 9 districts took part on the training.

Opening ceremony was conducted on the presence of Chief Commissioner, Joint Chief Commissioners, other National Commissioners, Regional Commissioners, and District Commissioners. The Chief Commissioner Mr. Shree Ram Lamichhane encouraged the participants to participate actively and learn more about the strategic plan (vision 2020) of Nepal Scouts. He remarked that unit leaders are the base of scouting movement. So unit leaders have invaluable role to develop and sustain the scouting activities.

At the beginning of the session, participants gave introduction and also presented their own district progress reports respectively. Afterward, session focused on the VISION, MISSION and Target/Goal of Nepal Scouts, which comprises 6 priorities area (Youth Program, Adult in Scouting, Management, Finance, Scouting Profile and Membership Growth) on the basis of Nepal Scout National Strategic Plan.

The main objective with leadership development skills, session started with short review on fundamental elements of scouting, principle, purpose, method, development areas. The leadership session was focused on how to develop their leadership skill? Skills of a good leader (like, planning, communication, motivation, setting the good example/being a role model, team work, ideas sharing, effective teaching, evaluation, etc) were presented as well as some tips for planning and teaching.

Another session was based on Communication skills. During the session essentiality of communication was presented. How the promptness by means of the use of communication will make easier to do the scouting activities was also presented at orientation on session.

Session was end on second day after closing ceremony.
