LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGIC PLAN HELD AT BIRGUNJ

Finland-Nepal Partnership Project (F-NPP) organized Leadership and Strategic Plan Training on 19 – 20 August 2011. Training was took place at Birgunj, Parsa, which is situated in the Central Development Region.
Opening Ceremony was conduct on the presence of Joint Chief Commissioner Ms. Puspa Lata Bhattari. In her remarks, she encouraged all the participants of the utilization of training by their active participation and essentiality of observation and implementation of Vision of Nepal Scouts.
Altogether 47 scout leaders from 15 active districts out of 18 districts from Central Region took part on the training.
Just after the session of opening ceremony, second session started spontaneously by introduction of FNPP team and commissioner who were present during the session at the seminar hall and ice-breaking activity started named “find a friend with the following qualities”.Afterward session started with the scouting method, which covered the basic principle of scouting and also focused on the Nepal Scouts 6 priority areas (Youth Program, Adult in Scouting, Management, Finance, Scouting Profile and Membership Growth) as according the National Strategic Plan.Thereafter, initially, the participants were divided into 4 different groups and by their discussion the groups presented their own district reports and prepared action plans of their respective districts to meet the goals of VISON 2020, which is the Nepal Scouts’ strategic plan for years2011-2013.
Participants were trained on the session of Leadership Development Skills. Where skills of a good leader (like; planning, communication, motivation, setting the good example/being a role model, team work, ideas sharing, effective teaching, etc) were presented as well as some tips for planning and teaching. How to run a unit? How can people (especially children/youth and parents) be motivated? What is the role of a leader in society/school?
Workshop on “Learning by doing” was also held and discussion on “motivation” was also carried out. Afterward the workshop focused on the significance role of communication at present context.
