YOUTH FORUM IN DANG

Nepal Scout Dang has organized a three day youth scouts seminar (16-25 age group) for rovers/rangers from 12th – 14th November 2013 at Rajhena Higher Secondary School Ghorahi, Dang. The opening ceremony was chaired by the district scout commissioner Mr. Yagya Bahadur Singh Oli and the chief guest was the principal of the host school Mr. Hari Prasad Gautam. Altogether 19 rovers/rangers participated in the seminar from the different surrounding public schools. The whole package of the seminar was focused on youth scouts and their roles towards their community ant at decision making.
The seminar package was facilitated by the scouter Mr. Durga Prasad Pandeya and the co-facilitators were Mr. Sudip Shrestha, Mrs. Deva Rajaure, Mrs Kamala Bharati, Mrs.Nirmala Gautam, Mrs. Vidya Lamsal and Ms. Sharada Gharti. On the first day of the seminar, the participants were divided in to three groups selecting leaders from each group and they were asked to select the main theme for the discussion. After the theme selection i.e. ‘Roles of Youth: Coordination in Generation Gap’, they were given sub- topics for each group for further discussion and conclusions in relation to main theme.
On the second day, the group wise discussion took place for an hour and each group came to the conclusion by writing their conclusions on chart paper and presenting in front of the all participants by the group leaders from each group with suggestions for each topic. After presentation the presenters and the groups were given feedback for further improvements. On the third day leader of the whole participants presented a conclusion of the theme and the suggestions for further scout planning and strategies on behalf of youth scouts.
At last the closing session was held chairing by the district commissioner and two ( a boy & a girl) of the participants shared their experiences and feelings of the seminar as well as their learning from the seminar. The rapporteur presented his report. The chair of the closing session thanked to the host school family for their hospitality and well wished to the youth scouts for their enthusiasm and patient of learning at scout activities in the district. Finally the program was ended with photo sessions.
