Enhancing quality of adult leaders

“Dream big and work hard to achieve it” are the inspiring words of Nepal Scouts Chief Commissioner Rabin Dahal for the participants of the 6th Course for Assistant Leader Trainers (CALT) at the Kakani International Training Centre (KITC). With the scenery of the Himalayas as its backdrop, this CALT is a breakthrough for Nepal Scouts – having been organized for the first time in 12 years. The last CALT was in 2005.

The course has 56 participants coming from 21 districts of Nepal, and from Hong Kong, Singapore and Scouts of China-Taiwan.

The Chief Commissioner shares the dream of Nepal Scouts to have 300,000 Scouts by 2025 – a dream that will take time, resources, talent and skills to achieve.

“We need your cooperation and participation to achieve the roadmap of Nepal Scouts. Your participation here is not a guarantee of your eligibility. You need to work back in your district to invite more young people into Scouting,” he said.

With the increase of young people joining Nepal Scouts in the past few years, only 153 Assistant Leader Trainers are eligible to give support, which makes it timely to train more adult in Scouting.

The CALT is a collaboration of World Scout Bureau Asia-Pacific Support Centre with APR Specialists Panel. National Training Commissioner Shiva Bahadur Bhandari is the Course Leader, with support from the training team comprised of Dr. Cyrus Wadia (India), Dr. Ekbert Yong (Malaysia), Dr. Leonides T. Son (Philippines); Mohd. Rafiqul Islam Khan (Bangladesh); Dev Raj Ghimire (Nepal), Thian Hiong-Boon and Cecille Tan from WSB Asia-Pacific Support Centre.
