Finland-Nepal Peace Education Partnership Project

With the broader theme of “Peace Education”, Nepal Scouts and The Guides and Scouts of Finland have collaborated for a long term partnership that spans till 2025 in educating youth on the topic of conflict resolution skill, combating hate speech and skills for life. For the year 2022, the activities are being worked out and tested among the scouts.
The program was further supported by Messenger of Peace team in Nepal. There will be further piloting activities in the days to come. Their feedback are being taken so that the rework can be done in the activities. Graduates from Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies, Tribhuvan University are designing the activities as well as facilitating the session. On 24th September, marking the International Month and with this year theme of “End Racism, Build Peace”, this program also discussed briefly about the ethnic conflict, prejudice, in-group and out-group phenomenon. The program marked the starting of the partnership program and further discussion with The Guides and Scouts of Finland team will ensure the activity reached to the wider areas of population and they could be impactful.
We are striving for a peaceful community where dialogue based resolution are sought out and any form of conflict does not lead to the violence. Nepal has gone through the 10 years civil conflict and the process of Peacebuilding is a continuous effort in remaking the society in developing the social interaction. Henceforth, the pilot will serve as a steps to remember the wrongdoings of the past that led to the conflict and the process for a sustain peace in the future.
