Nepal Scouts have conducted Master Training of Trainers (MTOT) of “Stop the Violence”

With the vision of creating gender equal society and ending gender-based violence, Nepal Scouts have conducted Master Training of Trainers (MTOT) at Kakani International Scout Center, Kakani, Nuwakot. The training ran from 15th of September – 18th of September 2022. There were 40 participants representing all seven provinces of the country. The participants were aided by province office representative for smooth communication and further implementation. The basic concept of gender equity and equality, difference between gender and sex, tradition notion of boy and girl, different form of violence, power attributed to gender-based violence were discussed over the course of the residential training. The participants were divided into groups and thus they also shared the stories of their respective province by which every participant knew the unique nature of gender-based violence that are prevalent in our country. One session was solely focused on the participation outlook of the whole topic and they provided the glimpse of what could be the scenario when implementing the activity in their provinces.

 

The participants are now expected to reach 680 schools advocating and sharing the knowledge over the course of the year 2022. Through this program, Nepal Scouts aims to empower students with the knowledge of violence and specially gender-based violence and how they can be focal part in creating the gender-equal society. Nepal Scouts believes that without the inclusive participation of every person from the community, the social transformation will always be stagnant and this program is just a step for creating social transformation. This is not the one-off program and Nepal Scouts is working the modality to create a sustainable program.
