Preparatory Course for YESS participants 2020

[:en]YESS Girls Movement is the project aims at giving women (18-25years) from WAGGGS member organizations in Africa and Asia Pacific an opportunity of a six month international experiences. The experience gives the young women a platform to be change agents and make meaningful contribution to both their home and host countries. Under the Youth and Gender thematic project of WAGGGS, the YESS Girls Movement has deliberate connections to other global programs like World Thinking Day, Free Being Me, Nutrition International, Surf Smart, The New Leadership Offer, Financial Literacy, Arlon Barlow and Leadership and Sustainability.

From Nepal for the year 2020, two participants Ms Puranjani Duwal for Uganda and Ms Rumi Tamakhu for Tanzania are representing Nepal Scouts through YESS Girls Movement to international level. The duration of the exchange is 9 month of which 1 month is preparation, 6 month is posting abroad and 2 month follow up works to home country.

Five days long (January 7-11, 2020) preparatory course was designed by YESS Girls Alumni and the different activities were conducted at Nepal Scout National Headquarter Seminar hall. The introductory program followed by briefing the Nepal Scouts history, its organizational structure, working patterns and National and International achievements was oriented by Director, Ram Prasad Bhattarai himself and also motivated the participants to use the opportunity to build own capacities and to support Nepal Scouting movement to international platform.

Similarly, Ms Rupa Gautam, Regional Coordinator of Asia Pacific Region (WAGGGS) has delivered her session on WAGGGS Leadership Models and Leadership Mindsets and WAGGGS World Centers. Different queries regarding to WAGGGS were discussed in the second day of the orientation. Ms Prerana Shakya, Global Programmes Manager has dealt with other different activities and programs of WAGGGS.

The communication and Public Relationship sessions were followed by Documentation and Reporting in depth was oriented by Ms Maiya Twayanabasu, Member of Asia Pacific Regional Committee – WAGGGS. The different issues association with communication, report writing and documentation were discussed in the orientation.

The YESS Girls Movement and Six core initiatives, Cultural Shocks, Financial Literacy and detail of MHM (Rosie’s World) were discussed in the preparatory class with the support from National Headquarters staffs and YESS Girls Alumni in coordination of YESS country coordinator. [:]
