[:en]On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021, YESS Girls Movement- Nepal Scouts has successfully conducted Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) week celebration Webinar. Webinar aimed to celebrate MHM Day 2021 to provide knowledge on different topics related to MHM, like Menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene Management, to break the silence and speak out against the Period Stigma and Period Poverty awareness on to minimize the Impact of COVID -19 on Menstruation and Mental Health.

The program was inaugurated on 23rd May 2021 by the chairmanship and opening speech of Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari, National Coordinator of Nepal Scouts, and officially ended up by closing speech of Mr. Ram Prasad Bhattarai, Director of Nepal Scouts on MH Day 28th May 2021 with the active participation of around 100 participants in each day of the webinar.

MHDay is a global movement to catalyze awareness, advocacy, and action on Menstrual Health and Hygiene and to break the silence against Period Poverty and Period Stigma. Emphasizing the importance of education and awareness on menstruation Hygiene, Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari highlighted that not a single woman and girl should suffer due to the menstruation superstition and taboos unhygienic behavior.

The session was facilitated by many guest speakers on different topics related to Menstruation, Psychosocial and Mental Health in the entire one-week-long webinar and discussed among the participants. Dr. Bidit Bhattarai delivered the session on the first day of the MHM week celebration with his impressive and informative presentation on “Menstruation and its issues”. Followed by Ms. Ackissah Thandiwe Baluti from Malawi on the topic of “Period Poverty” on the second day of the webinar by connecting specially Africa region and Asia region and the whole world on her presentation. On the third day, the event focused on the very deep-rooted issue of menstruation i.e., Menstruation Stigma or Period Stigma by Ms. Anita Shahi. And on fourth- and fifth-day discussion was on “Impact of COVID-19 on Menstruation”. Simultaneously, discussed the topic on proper management of menstruation in school by Mr. Chij Kumar Gurung and “Mental Health Awareness” by Mr. Anjan Dhakal.

A final day which was the celebration day of MHDay 2021, the webinar was celebrated by experience sharing of the representatives from various countries and different parts of Nepal who are actively working on MHM and COVID-19 pandemic as a front liner. The overall program was very fruitful, informative, and impressive along with the shower of the questions and queries and interest related to MHM of participants. The impressive and informative session by Guest speakers, active participation of participants, hard work/dedication, and support of the organizer team led this webinar to achieve huge success.
